Great Chest Protector, Thursday, 20 July 2006
I paid $110 for mine and it was worth every penny. It is comfortable, even when riding with a pack on. It is very durable and really good looking. I have owned several brands including Shift, AXO, and O\'Neal....this one is definitely the best one by far. The plastic material used is thicker than thos I just mentioned, the arm flapps are removable with a screwdriver, and it just flat out looks cool.
Great filter, Thursday, 20 July 2006
I looked at the Scotts filter before buying, and when put side by side, you couldn\'t tell them apart. The Ready Racing also comes with a billet cover and is $15 cheaper than the Scotts. I have only had it on for a month, but it seems to be doing a pretty good job of filtering. It is easy to clean out with break cleaner or even easier with a solvent tank. I would definitely recommend this filter.
Decent bash plate, Thursday, 20 July 2006
I have had this skid plate on my machine for over a year now. I have also ridden some pretty serious conditions like the \'5 miles of hell\' trail in the San Rafel Swell in UT.
All in all, the skid plate has held up well. The only gripes I have about it are that the oil drain hole doesn\'t quite line up right and neither do the front monting bolts. This makes it frustrating when changing oil. If I leave the plate on, I get an oily mess all over it, and if I remove it to change the oil....its a pain in the rear to get it bolted on again. I put it on my drill press and elongated the drain hole to fix this.
I would say I am happy with it, but I wouldn\'t mind trying another brand if I had it to do all over again.
Awsome pegs - I wish I still had some!, Thursday, 20 July 2006
If you read my review on the Fastway pegs, you will know why I don\'t still have IMS pegs on my bike anymore, but I wish I did.
These pegs had the best grip of any peg I have run before or since. Even in extremely muddy conditions, I had no problem maintaining a good grip on my pegs. The look is top notch - with a little buffing, they have some serious \'bling\' factor and really dress up the bike. They fit my bike like a glove and held up to the usual abuse very well.
By bike took a tumble down some slick-rock in Moab, UT and slid about 50\' on its side. Needless to say the peg on that side was destroyed, but it completely saved my bike and there was hardly a scratch on it. I would recommend these pegs in a heartbeat.
Mediocre at best, Thursday, 20 July 2006
I originally had IMS pro pegs on my bike, but after someone else wrecked my bike for me, I was forced to get a new set of Pegs. I chose the Fastways due to the extra large platform , the height adjustability, and the fact that everyone I knew was raving about them.
First - I had to use a grinder to grind down part of the foot-peg mount on my bike. The part of the peg that is held by the frame portion of the bike was 1/8\" too short, so I had to grind some of the frame down to accomidate them.
Second - They do not perform well when wet or muddy. Once again to reference the IMS Pro pegs, they were like standing on saw blades and dug right into your boot keeping your feet firmly in place no matter how bad the conditions got. The Fastways on the other hand are worthless once your boots get wet or muddy. The flat top of the screw-in allen head type teeth are too blunt to bite into the soles of the boot and their shape allow mud to build up on the tips too easliy causing a slick set of pegs.
Third - As for the quality, they do seem to hold up to the abuse I put them through fairly well. I have hit several rocks and roots when riding single-track trails and although I have damaged a couple of teeth (which can be changed out on these pegs) the main body has no indication of dammage.
Fourth - The height adjustability is not even worth mentioning. Although it does move the pegs down a little, I do not find that it is very noticable.....at least not as noticable as how slick they are and how poorly they initially fit.
The large platform feels very comfortable, especially on jump landings and rough whoop sections of the track.
Overall, I would not spend the on these pegs again. The IMS Pro pegs are cheaper, grip better, and are just as tough.
