Manufacture: Yamaha
Displacement: 450
Model Year: 2006
  • An all-new light and strong aluminum frame repositions the engine for great mass centralization and fantastic handling.
  • A special 50th anniversary model and sharp, new styling keeps the YZ450F at the front of the pack in the looks department, too.
  • New, five-speed gearbox squeezes even more performance from the mighty five-titanium-valved 450.
  • Upgraded suspension components at both ends, including a titanium shock spring which provide great handling and ride comfort.
  • Trick new bits include a light, strong ProTaper aluminum handlebar in adjustable clamps and a trick new exhaust system.

Compared to the other 450's out there, the YZ is a year ahead. The suspension is the best in the game. Power is more usable than brutish, and the fit & finish is better than most (anyone tried to change a CRF air filter).

The YZ is so far ahead of the competition in 2006, it isn\'t even a contest. Some magazines will always pick the Honda because of the amount of money the big H spends on advertising. For my money the YZ is THE best bike of 2006. It feels like a 250f. It\'s that light. The power might be a little latter in getting there than the CRF, but the ride characteristics of the YZ allow you to carry more speed everywhere.

Yeah, I\'m not sure if that guy or girl has really riden the 06. I\'ve had a yz400, yz426, yz450 (4 speed)and now this new 450. This one is the best of them all. I\'ve ridden my friends KTM\'s and CR\'s and this is by far better. I love the new 5 speed tranny, cause out in the desert there are times when you really want to open it up and it goes! And for the tracks, well the extra shifting (if I ever do it) doesn\'t bother me at all. Also, I love the graphics, just like the good ol\' days!

Dude, have you ever even ridden the bike? Honestly, the \'06 YZ-F is the best bike i\'ve ever ridden. If you would have taken the time to set it up like you should, there is no way you wouldn\'t have walked away thinking it was an awesome bike. There is absolutely no vibration, the power output is better than any other 450, and the forks and shock are light years ahead of the CRF, RMZ, and KXF.

Yeah, I read all the reviews. Some have said this is the greatest machine since the advent of 4 stroke mx technology. Well I\'m not one of them. I was fortunate enough to ride the YZ back to back against the CRF and KX-F and the Yamaha wasn\'t anywhere near the bike that the other two are. It is a deffinate step in the right direction for Yamaha to join the aluminum frame race, but I\'m not a fan of the underperforming engine, and difficulty initiating a turn. It just didn\'t seem very sure footed. Personally I would take a pass.
