Dirt Bike Accidents
Dirt Bikes for Dummies - Riding Technique

Crashing is almost akin to the law of gravity in dirt riding. You cannot prepare enough for a dirt bike accident. One thing that’s doable, though, is making sure that your motorbike will survive a dirt bike crash. Here are a few tips to make your bike endure dirt bike accidents.

Make sure that your dirt bike has good parts for rough crashing. Buy extra-strong pegs, Excel rims and Talon hubs for when you jump on your dirt bike from office buildings and land on concrete. Luckily, these are available from White Brothers. Get hold of guards for your dirt bike’s calipers, master cylinders, engine cases and discs. Moose, Acerbis and White Brothers sell good guards for your dirt bike’s parts that need protection. Aluminum handlebars on your motorbike are also the best for crashing. Dirt bike parts stores like White Brothers, Renthal, Afam, Answer, Acerbis and FMF would have them. However, new standard Japanese bikes do not have aluminum handlebars.

Fit your motorbike with a good brake snake. Your bike’s brake snake is that single strand of braided steel cable that is strung from the shift lever or brake pedal to the frame and fixed firmly by little crimp-connect fasteners that the brake snake comes with. They keep your foot controls in working condition and investing in a good one is a must for your dirt bike.

Prevent your dirt bike’s levers from snapping in the middle of a ride or a race. Loosen your motorbike’s lever brackets to allow the perch and lever to spin on the handlebar when you hit the earth. Some would even wrap a Teflon tape around the bar and crank their lever perches down tight. Sunline forges dirt bike levers and brackets and you might want to have your dirt bike’s brackets and lever done the Sunline way.

Gas it after crashing. Crashing your motorbike wreaks havoc on its standard nylon throttle tube. Dirt riding on a bike with a plastic throttle tube replacement is a bad idea. You can buy aluminum throttles that are resistant to crashes from Chaparral and Pro Circuit.
