I have to admit it. I hate paying for insurance. The whole concept of writing a check for a service that I will probably never use irritates me to no end. But I've been talking to a riding buddy who has been paying for insurance for each of his 4 motorcycles and or quads. I'm not talking street machines where insurance is required either, these are dirt machines.

So I walk around parking area, thinking someone must be playing some cruel trick. But sure enough it's gone. Consoling myself, I race home and pull out the certificate the insurance agent gave me indicating that in such an event, my property would be replace with nothing but the most curious of customer service.

At this point I'm sure you guys are way ahead of me. Nothing is ever as simple as the agent tells you it will be. After 2 weeks of constant phone calls to some guy in Bangledesh (who represents the insurance companies interests) and $500 out of pocket to cover my deductible, I get my check for $3000 to replace my stolen motorcycle. Now you must know, I took 3 semesters of calculus, but I still have the hardest time figuring how I'm going to replace my dirt bike that was worth at least $10,000 when it was stolen with this meager check I was sent.

Now I regret the hundreds of dollars I spent in insurance fees only to be screwed by some guy whose name I can't pronounce, from some country that I will surely never set foot in. As I climb off my soap box and end this hypothetical, I wounder out load if anyone has ever been grateful for spending money on motorcycle insurance?
