![]() Long live Ford Trucks Now that I have regained my manhood, I've started to understand why the Supercross series always has a title sponsor from Toyota or Checy Trucks or one of the many other Motorcycle transport builders. There is just no more masculine way of getting your dirt bike around than to throw it in the back of a truck. I've never been brand loyal in my motocross bikes or my pickup trucks. Wherever I can get the best deal is where I do my shopping. While shopping around however I am noticing that truck manufactures are starting to provide a much better product for toting a dirt bike around. When I was a kid, transporting my KX 125 around, the only hold for my tie-downs were on top of the bed rails. The modern Ford F-Series trucks, Toyota Tundra, Nissan Titan and almost all others have fixed this in an easy way. I now have no less than 6 hangers to thread my tie-downs through. I'm actually able to fit my CRF, my daughters KTM, and my son's PW with space left over for all our gear and cooler. This feat would have proved impossible in my old Toyota Tacoma. The only drawback to moving from a trailer to a full size truck is getting the bikes into the bed of the truck after a long day of riding. I'm no spring chicken anymore, and it takes a monumental amount of strength at times. I have seen a few guys actually ride their bikes up the ramp into the truck, but that takes a larger size Speedo than I've ever been able to wear. So how do you get your bike to the track, trail or dune? Are you brand loyal? Chevy, Ford, Dodge or other, what works and what doesn't? I'm also very interested in how you Vet class riders are getting your bikes in and out of the truck. This has become a major issue for me. |
